Brad Dalke DP World Tour: YouTube Golf Star Shines in BMW International Open Debut

Brad Dalke DP World Tour headlines have taken over the golf world this week after the popular American content creator delivered a standout opening round at the BMW International Open in Munich, Germany. The 28-year-old, best known to millions of fans for his YouTube golf videos, proved he still has serious game by carding a 3-under 69 in his first world-ranked start in nearly six years.

Brad Dalke’s DP World Tour Debut Explained

Dalke teed off at Golfclub München Eichenried on a sponsor invitation, marking his first appearance at a professional golf event in Europe. Playing in the 37th edition of the BMW International Open, he opened his round with four birdies through his first 12 holes and backed that up with several clutch par saves to post a bogey-free finish of three-under-par 69.

The highlight of his day came on the par-3 second hole, where his tee shot from 230 yards narrowly missed a hole-in-one, settling just a few feet past the cup for a tap-in birdie. The near-ace quickly went viral on social media, with the DP World Tour’s own account calling it a “near ace” moment for the man known online as DalkeKong3.

Dalke’s opening 69 was good enough to outscore several well-known names in the field, including Sergio Garcia (71), Casey Jarvis (71), Patrick Reed (72), and Eugenio Chacarra (72). The round left him five shots off the lead, which was shared by Jayden Schaper and Hennie du Plessis, but comfortably inside the projected cut line heading into round two.

From Junior Golf Prodigy to YouTube Sensation

Before becoming a well-known name in golf content creation, Brad Dalke was one of the most talked-about amateur players in the country. He won the 2015 Junior PGA Championship and reached the final of the 2016 U.S. Amateur Championship, finishing runner-up to Curtis Luck. That result earned him invitations to the 2017 Masters Tournament and the 2017 U.S. Open. He also played a key role in helping the University of Oklahoma win the NCAA National Championship in 2017, graduating from the program in 2019.

After his amateur career, Dalke transitioned into professional golf on a limited basis before building a massive following online. He built his channel into one of the most recognized names in golf content, amassing roughly 400,000 YouTube subscribers and 330,000 Instagram followers. He later became a prominent member of Good Good Golf, a golf and lifestyle media brand, where he won multiple Creator Classic events, including victories at Philadelphia Cricket Club and East Lake Golf Club.

Personal Struggles Behind the Scenes

Dalke’s return to competitive golf comes during an emotionally difficult stretch for him and his family. Just days before teeing off in Germany, he announced his departure from Good Good Golf, citing ongoing health struggles involving his wife, Abbie. In a personal video shared with fans, Dalke opened up about the couple’s experience with a miscarriage and the toll it took on them both, describing it as one of the most heart-wrenching periods of his life.

Despite the personal challenges, Dalke expressed excitement about the trip to Germany with his wife for the BMW International Open, calling it a bright spot after months of difficult doctor’s appointments. He is not stepping away from golf entirely and is expected to make additional professional starts this season, including an appearance at the Rocket Classic on the PGA Tour.

What’s Next for Brad Dalke on the DP World Tour

This marks just the sixth world-ranked start of Dalke’s career. His previous appearances included missed cuts at the 2016 Valero Texas Open, the 2017 Masters, and the 2017 U.S. Open, along with a missed cut at the Korn Ferry Tour’s 2020 Evans Scholars Invitational, his most recent competitive appearance prior to this week.

With his strong start in Munich, Dalke will look to build on his position and battle for his first career cut at a world-ranked event when he tees off again in round two. The BMW International Open field this year includes major champions Sergio Garcia, Patrick Reed, and Danny Willett, along with past champions Martin Kaymer, Pablo Larrazábal, and Ewen Ferguson, as defending champion Daniel Brown looks to become the first player in tournament history to successfully defend the title.

The tournament, which runs from July 1 to July 5, carries a total prize fund of three million US dollars, with 510,000 US dollars going to the eventual winner.
