Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Get Sweet Notes From Fallen 1st Responder Families After $2M Donation

Families of New York City first responders who died in the line of duty have sent touching messages of thanks to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce after the newlywed couple donated $2 million to a charity that supports them.

A Wedding Gift That Kept Giving

Swift and Kelce, both 36, tied the knot on July 3, 2026, in a star-studded ceremony at Madison Square Garden in New York City. In the lead-up to their big day, the couple donated an estimated $26 million to a range of charitable causes tied to cities that hold special meaning for them, including organizations in Kansas City connected to Kelce’s football career.

Among the recipients was Answer the Call, a New York-based nonprofit also known as the N.Y. Police and Fire Widows’ & Children’s Benefit Fund. The organization provides financial assistance to families of NYPD officers, FDNY firefighters, Port Authority police officers, and EMS personnel killed while serving their communities. Swift and Kelce’s gift to the charity totaled $2 million.

Charity Leader Praises the Couple’s Generosity

Answer the Call executive director Lauren Profeta thanked the couple directly in a statement shared on Instagram at the time of the donation. She said the extraordinary gift would allow the organization to keep providing much-needed financial support to the families of New York City’s fallen first responders, and thanked Swift and Kelce for their kindness, generosity, and commitment to the city’s collective promise to “Never Forget.”

Families Share Personal, Heartfelt Letters

In the weeks following the wedding, Answer the Call shared a series of emotional letters from families who have been helped by the organization, posting several tributes to Instagram to thank the newlyweds directly.

Patricia Polimeni, whose husband, NYPD detective Jack Polimeni, died in 2020, wrote that she knows firsthand how much the organization’s support means to families like hers. She described the donation as far more than a financial gift, saying it provides hope, comfort, and a sense of community for families learning to navigate life after losing someone who dedicated their life to serving others.

Amanda Rivera, who lost her father, William Rivera, in 2004, shared that Answer the Call helped her family find community and support in the years since his death.

Another family member, Allison Garger, recalled a personal moment with Swift at a concert at MetLife Stadium, writing that her son Michael has been inspired by the singer ever since and that the family is forever grateful for the couple’s generosity.

A separate letter-writer, who has been supported by the organization for years, described feeling isolated in grief before connecting with Answer the Call’s community. The writer credited the organization with life-changing experiences, including throwing out a first pitch at a New York Mets game and attending concerts, and said knowing Swift and Kelce chose to support the cause means a great deal personally.

Gift Reaches More Than 500 Families

According to Answer the Call, the $2 million donation will provide lifelong support to more than 500 families connected to the charity. Organization leaders noted the gift struck an especially personal chord for families who lost loved ones on September 11, 2001.

Part of a Broader Pattern of Giving

The donation to Answer the Call was one piece of a larger wave of charitable giving from Swift and Kelce around their wedding. The couple also covered security costs associated with the Madison Square Garden ceremony, with New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani noting that Swift’s contribution covered more than $160,000 in police expenses.

While the scale of the Madison Square Garden wedding drew some criticism over its impact on the city, the couple’s charitable contributions have continued to draw praise from the organizations and families who received support, with many saying the impact of the gift goes far beyond its dollar value.

What’s Next

Answer the Call has indicated it will continue to spotlight stories from families supported by the donation in the coming weeks. Swift and Kelce have not issued a personal public statement responding to the letters as of this writing.
