Shoppers can visit their local store during its listed Monday schedule, although exact opening and closing times can vary by location.
Labor Day is one of the busiest holiday weekends of the summer for grocery shopping. Many Americans use the three-day weekend for cookouts, family gatherings, travel and other activities that require a last-minute grocery run.
For Trader Joe’s customers, the latest confirmed information provides a simple answer: stores are operating on Labor Day. Multiple Trader Joe’s location pages currently identify September 7 as a regular-hours day, rather than a nationwide closure or reduced-hours holiday.
Trader Joe’s Is Open on Labor Day 2026
Trader Joe’s will be open on Labor Day, which falls on Monday, September 7, 2026.
Current store information shows regular hours for September 7 at locations in different parts of the country. Listings in California, Florida, Missouri, Oregon, Texas and Massachusetts all display regular Labor Day operations.
That means customers do not need to complete their shopping before the holiday simply because Trader Joe’s is observing Labor Day.
The holiday falls on a Monday, so customers can plan their visit around the store’s normal Monday schedule. However, checking the specific location remains important because Trader Joe’s stores do not all have identical operating hours.
What Time Does Trader Joe’s Open on Labor Day?
Many Trader Joe’s locations open at 8 a.m. on regular weekdays.
Current store listings support that schedule at numerous locations. The Santa Ana, California, store, for example, lists Monday hours from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. and identifies September 7 as a regular-hours day.
Several Houston locations also list Monday through Saturday hours from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Their September 7 listings show regular hours as well.
Customers planning an early Labor Day shopping trip should still check their individual store before leaving. Local operating schedules can differ, and the store locator provides the most relevant information for a specific address.
What Time Does Trader Joe’s Close on Labor Day?
Many Trader Joe’s stores close at 9 p.m. on Monday.
That schedule appears at several current store listings, including locations in California and Texas. Those stores identify September 7 as a regular operating day.
A 9 p.m. closing time is common, but shoppers should not assume that every location follows precisely the same schedule.
If you are planning to shop later in the evening, checking the local store listing is particularly useful. It can help avoid arriving after the doors have closed.
Trader Joe’s Labor Day Hours Can Vary by Location
Although Trader Joe’s is open on Labor Day, customers should understand that store hours are location-specific.
The company operates stores across the United States, and individual locations can have different schedules. Some stores may also have different Sunday hours than Monday hours.
For example, the Des Peres, Missouri, store lists Monday through Saturday hours of 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., while its Sunday schedule differs.
The Houston-South Voss Road location also lists 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. from Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday.
Since September 7 is a Monday, shoppers should use the Monday schedule rather than the Sunday schedule when planning their Labor Day visit.

How to Check Your Local Trader Joe’s Hours
The best way to confirm your Labor Day shopping time is to check the listing for your specific Trader Joe’s store.
The process is straightforward. Search for the location using your city or ZIP code, select the store and review the operating schedule.
Pay attention to any special-hours message connected with September 7.
Customers who live near multiple Trader Joe’s stores should check each location separately. A nearby store may have a different schedule from another location.
This step is especially useful for people traveling over the holiday weekend. If you plan to shop at a Trader Joe’s in another city, verify that store rather than relying on the schedule from your usual location.
Does Trader Joe’s Have Reduced Hours on Labor Day?
Current store listings reviewed for Labor Day show regular hours, not a general reduced-hours schedule.
Several locations specifically display a notice indicating regular hours on September 7. Their standard weekly schedules then provide the applicable opening and closing times.
For many stores, that means an 8 a.m. opening and 9 p.m. closing.
However, regular hours still depend on the individual location. Customers should use their store’s listing to confirm the exact schedule.
There is currently no confirmed nationwide Labor Day schedule showing that Trader Joe’s stores will close early across the chain.
Can You Shop at Trader Joe’s on September 7?
Yes. Customers can shop at Trader Joe’s on Monday, September 7.
The holiday does not currently appear as a chainwide closure day. Current store information shows regular operation at locations across multiple states.
That gives shoppers another opportunity to pick up groceries on the holiday itself.
This can be useful for customers who run out of an ingredient during the weekend or decide to make an additional grocery trip before the holiday ends.
Why Local Store Information Matters
Holiday schedules can sometimes differ from normal weekly schedules, which makes location-specific information important.
A national statement that Trader Joe’s is open does not necessarily tell you exactly when your nearby store opens or closes.
The official location pages provide the store-specific schedule. They also identify the address and telephone number, making it easier for customers to verify that they are checking the correct location.
For shoppers with a tight Labor Day schedule, checking before heading out can save time.
It also helps customers avoid confusing Sunday hours with Monday hours. Labor Day 2026 takes place on Monday, so the Monday schedule applies.
Trader Joe’s Labor Day Shopping Plans
Labor Day often creates a final opportunity for summer gatherings, and grocery stores can become especially important during the weekend.
Customers may need fresh produce, prepared foods, snacks, beverages, bakery items or other everyday groceries.
With Trader Joe’s open on September 7, shoppers can make an additional trip on the holiday if something is needed.
The regular operating schedule also gives customers flexibility. Instead of rushing to finish every purchase before the weekend, they can use Monday as another shopping day.
Still, shoppers should plan around their local store’s operating hours.
