Evil Dead Rising is not the official title of a current Evil Dead movie, but the search term is closely associated with the franchise’s recent releases and ongoing expansion. As of October 4, 2026, the newest film is Evil Dead Burn, which is now streaming on HBO Max, while Evil Dead Wrath is the next confirmed theatrical installment and is scheduled for April 7, 2028.
The distinction is important because there has been no confirmed announcement for a movie officially titled Evil Dead Rising. The franchise has instead continued through individually titled films, with Evil Dead Rise arriving in 2023 and Evil Dead Burn becoming the latest chapter in 2026.
Is Evil Dead Rising an Official Movie?
No. There is currently no officially announced Evil Dead film titled Evil Dead Rising.
The phrase can appear in online searches because audiences sometimes use alternative wording when looking for information about Evil Dead Rise. The 2023 movie remains one of the most important modern entries in the franchise, but its official title is Evil Dead Rise, not Evil Dead Rising.
There is also no confirmed release date, cast announcement, director announcement or production announcement for a separate project carrying the Evil Dead Rising title.
For fans searching for the latest Evil Dead movie news, the relevant current titles are Evil Dead Burn and Evil Dead Wrath.
Evil Dead Rise Remains an Important Part of the Modern Franchise
Evil Dead Rise was released in theaters in April 2023 and marked a major change in the franchise’s setting.
Lee Cronin wrote and directed the movie. The main cast included Lily Sullivan, Alyssa Sutherland, Morgan Davies, Gabrielle Echols and Nell Fisher.
The story moved away from the familiar isolated cabin environment. Instead, the movie placed its characters inside an apartment building in Los Angeles, where a family becomes caught in a violent Deadite outbreak.
That change helped distinguish Evil Dead Rise from earlier installments while preserving the franchise’s central supernatural horror elements.
The movie became a significant theatrical success. It earned more than $147 million worldwide, demonstrating that the franchise remained commercially strong decades after Sam Raimi’s original movie.
Its success also helped create a path for additional standalone stories rather than requiring every new installment to follow the same characters.
Evil Dead Burn Is the Latest Released Film
The biggest current update for anyone searching for Evil Dead Rising is the arrival of Evil Dead Burn.
Directed by Sébastien Vaniček, the movie was released theatrically in the United States on July 10, 2026. Vaniček also co-wrote the screenplay with Florent Bernard.
The principal cast includes Souheila Yacoub, Tandi Wright, Hunter Doohan, Luciane Buchanan and Erroll Shand.
The story follows a woman who seeks support from her husband’s family after his death. Her visit turns into a nightmare when Deadite forces emerge and begin transforming members of the family.
Like the recent movies, Evil Dead Burn uses a new group of characters instead of returning to Ash Williams as the central protagonist.
That creative direction has become increasingly important to the franchise.
Evil Dead Burn Is Now Streaming
U.S. viewers no longer need to wait for a digital rental or another theatrical showing to watch the latest movie.
Evil Dead Burn began streaming on HBO Max on October 2, 2026. The timing places the movie directly within the Halloween season, when interest in horror titles typically increases.
The film also received a scheduled HBO television presentation on October 3.
Its arrival on streaming gives the latest installment a new audience beyond the people who saw it during its theatrical run.
For people who have been searching for a new Evil Dead movie under the phrase Evil Dead Rising, Evil Dead Burn is currently the most relevant title to look for.
What Is Evil Dead Burn About?
Evil Dead Burn follows Alice, a woman dealing with the death of her husband while staying with her in-laws.
The family gathering becomes increasingly dangerous after the supernatural forces associated with the Book of the Dead enter the story.
The film continues the franchise’s established use of Deadites, possession and extreme practical horror.
Its setting and characters are separate from the story of Evil Dead Rise. That means viewers do not need a direct continuation of the 2023 characters to understand the new movie.
The standalone structure also allows the filmmakers to create another version of the Evil Dead experience while keeping recognizable elements of the franchise.
How Evil Dead Burn Performed
The 2026 movie generated a substantial theatrical audience.
Its U.S. box office reached more than $32 million, while worldwide earnings surpassed $72 million.
The movie also received a mixed-to-positive critical response. Its reception has particularly highlighted its intense gore, violent set pieces and commitment to the franchise’s horror identity.
The response shows that the Evil Dead name continues to have theatrical value even as the series changes directors, characters and locations.
The movie has now moved into the streaming phase of its release, making its October 2026 availability one of the most important current developments for the franchise.
Evil Dead Wrath Is the Next Confirmed Movie
The next major installment is Evil Dead Wrath.
Francis Galluppi is writing and directing the film. He previously directed The Last Stop in Yuma County.
The project has already completed filming and is scheduled to reach U.S. theaters on April 7, 2028.
That release date makes Evil Dead Wrath the next confirmed theatrical movie following Evil Dead Burn.
The announced cast includes Charlotte Hope, Jessica McNamee, Zach Gilford, Josh Helman, Ella Newton, Elizabeth Cullen and Ella Oliphant.
Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert are producing the movie, with Bruce Campbell and Lee Cronin among the executive producers.
Evil Dead Wrath Will Go Back to 1972
One of the most significant confirmed details about Evil Dead Wrath is its time period.
The movie is set in 1972, making it a prequel to the original The Evil Dead.
The story follows a French woman trapped in a troubled marriage in America. Her relationship with her husband’s family becomes central to the horror story.
The 1972 setting gives the filmmakers an opportunity to explore the franchise’s mythology from a much earlier point in its timeline.
It also separates Evil Dead Wrath from the contemporary settings used by recent installments.
The movie is therefore not simply another continuation of Evil Dead Rise or Evil Dead Burn. It represents another significant shift in the franchise.
Bruce Campbell’s Ash Williams Is Not Leading the New Movies
Another major change involves Bruce Campbell.
Campbell’s Ash Williams remains the most recognizable character in the franchise. He first appeared in the original The Evil Dead in 1981 and later returned for two theatrical sequels and the television series Ash vs Evil Dead.
However, the current film series has moved away from Ash as its central character.
Campbell has publicly indicated that he is finished playing Ash in live-action projects. He has also said that he does not intend to return to the role for animated projects.
His continued connection to the franchise is instead taking place through production and executive-production responsibilities.
This shift allows the series to introduce new protagonists and new stories without relying on Ash’s return.
Why the Franchise Keeps Introducing New Characters
The modern Evil Dead films have increasingly embraced standalone storytelling.
Evil Dead Rise followed a new family.
Evil Dead Burn introduced another group of characters and a different location.
Evil Dead Wrath moves even further away from the recent stories by traveling back to the 1970s.
The strategy gives each director room to establish a distinct visual style and horror atmosphere.
At the same time, the movies retain the mythology that makes the franchise recognizable, including Deadites and the Book of the Dead.
This approach also means that viewers should not expect every installment to directly continue the previous movie’s plot.
Evil Dead Rising vs. the Official Movie Titles
For searchers trying to identify the correct movie, the titles can be separated clearly:
| Search Term | Official Status | Current Situation |
|---|---|---|
| Evil Dead Rising | Not an officially announced movie title | Search variation |
| Evil Dead Rise | Official 2023 movie | Released |
| Evil Dead Burn | Official 2026 movie | Released and streaming |
| Evil Dead Wrath | Official upcoming movie | Scheduled for April 7, 2028 |
This distinction is particularly important because online searches can sometimes combine different Evil Dead titles.
There is currently no confirmed production called Evil Dead Rising that has a cast, director or release date.
What Happens Next for the Evil Dead Franchise?
The immediate focus is Evil Dead Burn, which has completed its theatrical release and is now available to stream during the 2026 Halloween season.
The next confirmed major event is Evil Dead Wrath, which is scheduled to arrive in theaters in 2028.
The franchise therefore remains active, with another feature film already completed and awaiting release.
The current direction also demonstrates that the series is continuing without depending on Ash Williams as its main character.
Instead, new filmmakers are being given opportunities to put their own stamp on the franchise while maintaining its supernatural horror foundation.
For viewers who searched for Evil Dead Rising because they wanted information about the newest Evil Dead project, Evil Dead Burn is the title that matters most right now. For the future, Evil Dead Wrath is the confirmed movie to watch.
There is no verified announcement of a separate Evil Dead Rising movie as of October 4, 2026.
For Evil Dead fans, the franchise is still moving forward, with Evil Dead Burn streaming now and Evil Dead Wrath waiting in the shadows for 2028.
