Chet Hanks height has become a frequent search among fans following the actor and musician, with current biographical information listing him at 5 feet 10 inches (1.78 meters). The son of Hollywood stars Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson has spent much of his adult life working to establish an identity separate from his famous family, moving between acting, music and television.
At 36, Hanks is entering a new phase of his career. His recent work has included a television role on Running Point, while his musical ambitions have taken him to Nashville and into the country-music scene with his band Something Out West.
Chet Hanks’ Height at a Glance
Chet Hanks is listed at 5 feet 10 inches, which is approximately 178 centimeters or 1.78 meters. In total, the measurement equals 70 inches.
Height figures for celebrities can sometimes vary between online databases because measurements may be estimated or supplied at different points in a person’s career. The 5-foot-10 figure is the currently documented measurement associated with Hanks.
His height has attracted attention partly because he regularly appears alongside other actors and musicians, creating opportunities for fans to compare his stature with those around him.
A New Chapter in Nashville
One of the biggest developments in Hanks’ professional life during 2026 has been his move toward country music.
Hanks has been building Something Out West with musician Drew Arthur. The project represents a major shift from the hip-hop-influenced music he released earlier in his career under the name Chet Haze.
The pair have been working in Nashville, a city synonymous with American country music. Hanks has embraced the environment as he works on establishing himself within a different corner of the entertainment business.
His approach to life in Nashville has also attracted attention. Rather than immediately settling into a conventional apartment, he has chosen to live in a recreational vehicle at a Nashville-area trailer community.
Hanks discussed the decision publicly in 2026, explaining that the lifestyle gives him a practical base while he concentrates on music. The move has become one of the more unusual details surrounding his latest career chapter.
Something Out West Gains Attention
Something Out West received a major publicity boost when the group performed at the 2026 Stagecoach Festival in California.
The appearance was especially notable because Tom Hanks was spotted in the audience supporting his son. The Hollywood actor was seen enjoying the performance and singing along during the band’s set.
The family connection became even more interesting because Something Out West’s song “You Better Run” includes imagery inspired by Forrest Gump, one of Tom Hanks’ most famous films.
Chet appears in the music video, while his father also makes an appearance. The connection between the film’s imagery and Chet’s country-music ambitions created an unusual bridge between two generations of the Hanks family.
The Stagecoach appearance also helped introduce Something Out West to a much larger audience.
His Acting Career Continues
Music has become a major focus, but acting remains an important part of Hanks’ professional résumé.
In 2026, he appeared as Travis Bugg on the Netflix comedy series Running Point. The role gave viewers another opportunity to see Hanks in a television setting while he continued developing his music career.
His acting résumé includes appearances in projects such as Empire, Shameless, Your Honor, Atlanta, NCIS: New Orleans and It’s Florida, Man. He has also appeared in feature films, including Larry Crowne, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and Project X.
The variety of those roles reflects a career that has never been confined to one entertainment category.
Growing Up as Tom Hanks’ Son
Hanks’ public profile has always been closely linked to his parents.
His father, Tom Hanks, is one of Hollywood’s most recognizable actors, while his mother, Rita Wilson, has worked extensively as an actress, producer, singer and songwriter.
Chet grew up alongside siblings from both sides of his parents’ families. His brother Colin Hanks has also established a successful acting career, while his siblings Elizabeth and Truman have pursued work connected to the entertainment industry.
Being part of such a prominent family has inevitably affected the public’s interest in Chet. However, much of his recent career activity has focused on creating a separate professional identity.
Chet Hanks Height Compared With Other Celebrities
At 5 feet 10 inches, Hanks falls within a range commonly associated with average-to-above-average male height in the United States.
Photographs can make celebrity height comparisons difficult. Camera positioning, footwear, posture and the distance between people can all affect how tall someone appears.
For that reason, photographs of Hanks standing next to his father or other entertainers should not be considered precise measurements.
The documented figure of 5 feet 10 inches remains the most useful reference for people searching specifically for his physical statistics.
A Career That Keeps Changing Direction
Hanks’ professional path has taken several turns.
His early music attracted attention through his Chet Haze persona, while acting provided another avenue for creative work. More recently, he has focused on country music and the Something Out West project.
That transition is particularly significant because it places him in a Nashville-centered music environment rather than relying exclusively on Hollywood opportunities.
His 2026 performances have demonstrated that the music project is moving beyond studio work. Appearing at major events and performing live gives Hanks an opportunity to build a reputation based on his own artistic output.
Recent Public Attention in 2026
Hanks has remained in entertainment headlines throughout the year for reasons extending beyond his height and acting career.
His Nashville lifestyle, country-music performances and appearance at Stagecoach have all generated attention. His father appearing in the audience at Stagecoach added another layer to the story and highlighted the family’s support for his latest venture.
He also faced an unexpected travel problem earlier in 2026 after encountering passport-related complications while in Colombia. The incident briefly became part of the entertainment news cycle before he returned to the United States.
Despite the occasional headline unrelated to his professional work, Hanks’ primary focus in recent months has increasingly been music and entertainment.
What Comes Next for Chet Hanks?
The direction of Hanks’ career suggests that music could become an increasingly important part of his public identity.
Something Out West gives him a platform to develop original material, perform live and establish connections within Nashville’s music community. At the same time, his television experience means acting remains another potential avenue.
His ability to move between the two industries could become one of the defining characteristics of his career.
For fans primarily interested in Chet Hanks height, the answer remains straightforward: he is listed at 5 feet 10 inches (178 cm). But his latest career developments show that there is considerably more happening around the actor and musician than a single physical statistic.
