Although Levine is now widely recognized as a global pop-rock star, his musical career began long before Maroon 5 became an international name.
Adam Levine’s Early Life and Musical Beginnings
Levine grew up in Los Angeles and developed an interest in music during his school years. While attending Brentwood School, he began performing with friends and eventually formed a band called Kara’s Flowers.
The group included several musicians who would later become important members of Maroon 5. Kara’s Flowers signed a recording contract and released an album in the late 1990s, but the group did not immediately achieve the commercial success its members hoped for.
The experience nevertheless gave Levine an early introduction to songwriting, recording and performing professionally.
After the original group went through changes, Levine and his longtime musical collaborators reshaped their sound. The resulting band eventually became Maroon 5.
That transition proved to be a major turning point in Levine’s life and established the musical foundation for the career that followed.
Maroon 5 Changed Adam Levine’s Career
Maroon 5 broke through commercially with its 2002 debut album, Songs About Jane. The record combined elements of pop, rock and soul and produced several major singles.
Songs including “This Love,” “Harder to Breathe” and “She Will Be Loved” helped make Levine a familiar voice on radio stations across the United States and around the world.
The success of Songs About Jane also transformed Levine from an emerging musician into an internationally recognized performer.
Maroon 5 continued releasing albums and singles throughout the following decades. The band’s ability to move between pop, rock, dance and contemporary music helped it remain commercially relevant through changing musical trends.
Levine’s distinctive voice became one of the defining characteristics of the group, while his songwriting and stage presence helped establish Maroon 5 as one of the best-known American pop-rock bands of its generation.
Maroon 5’s Latest Music
Levine remains actively involved with Maroon 5. The band’s eighth studio album, Love Is Like, arrived in 2025, four years after Jordi.
The album represented another stage in the group’s evolution, with Levine and his bandmates incorporating contemporary production and collaborations with other artists.
Among the album’s associated releases are “All Night,” “Priceless” featuring LISA and the title track “Love Is Like,” which features Lil Wayne. Other collaborations on the project include appearances from Sexyy Red.
Maroon 5 has continued to release music following the album’s arrival. The band’s official release history also lists “Heroine,” released in April 2026, demonstrating that Levine’s recording career remains active.
For longtime fans, the continued musical activity is significant because Levine has maintained a career in music while simultaneously developing a major television profile.
Adam Levine and The Voice
Television became another major part of Levine’s public career when he joined NBC’s The Voice as an original coach.
The singing competition premiered in the United States in 2011, with Levine among its first group of celebrity coaches. His role involved selecting singers during blind auditions, mentoring contestants and competing against other coaches for the season championship.
Levine became closely associated with the program during its early years. He remained on the coaching panel through Season 16 before leaving the show in 2019.
His departure did not end his relationship with The Voice. Levine eventually returned to the coaching panel, bringing his experience and established relationship with the program back to NBC’s singing competition.
Adam Levine Returns for The Voice Season 30
One of the biggest current developments in Levine’s career is his presence on The Voice Season 30.
The milestone season premiered September 21, 2026, with a three-night opening event. Levine returned alongside Kelly Clarkson, while Riley Green and Queen Latifah joined the coaching lineup.
The latest season represents another significant television chapter for Levine because it places him back in the coaching chair during the show’s 30th season.
Season 30 also introduces changes to the show’s format, including new elements during the Blind Auditions and a return to live shows later in the competition.
Levine’s involvement gives the season a direct connection to the show’s earliest era because he was part of the original coaching lineup when The Voice debuted.
Levine’s Season 29 Success
Before returning for Season 30, Levine had a notable result on the previous season.
Alexia Jayy won The Voice Season 29 as a member of Team Adam. The victory represented Levine’s fourth championship as a coach on the series.
His previous coaching victories came in Seasons 1, 5 and 9. The Season 29 result therefore added another major accomplishment to Levine’s television career.
The victory also strengthened the connection between Levine and The Voice after his return to the program.
With Season 30 now underway, Levine has another opportunity to work with emerging singers while competing against Clarkson, Green and Queen Latifah.
